The island where Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in culturing pearls for the first time in the world. On this island of approx. 24,000 ㎡, there is a Pearl Museum, exhibiting decorative arts and a pearl jewelry collection as well as the Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, the Pearl Shop and the Ama Stand – where visitors can enjoy watching fishing demonstrations by ama, female divers, up close.
