Moegi House

A Historical Piece of Western Architecture

A Historical Piece of Western Architecture

The Moegi house was built in 1903 as the former residence of the US Consul-General, Hunter Sharpe and was designated as an important cultural asset of Japan in 1980. It is a two-story wooden Western-style mansion that features two bay windows. The Moegi house also has a staircase with an arabesque pattern – exuding luxury and cutting edge design. Heavy mantle pieces are seen all over the venue, and a wonderful view overlooking Kobe city can be enjoyed from the second floor veranda.
