Nyoirinji Temple

"Nankiri Fudo Myoo" saves one from difficulties

"Nankiri Fudo Myoo" saves one from difficulties

Although a bit far from the main street, this small temple is beautiful in both spring and autumn. There is a carving and painting of Emperor Godaigo, who famously fled to Yoshino to set up a rival court in the Kamakura period. The fierce and finely carved Zao Gongan figure with his glassy third eye is worth the trip alone.
