Shrine to Pray for the Nation's Prosperity

Shrine to Pray for the Nation's Prosperity

The National Treasure, Kasugataisha Shrine was built in 768 when Nara (once named Heiankyo) was the capital of Japan – the shrine was dedicated to the god of prosperity and safety of the nation and its people. Just near the shrine entrance, Kasugataisha Shrine Museum has an excellent collection of some of the most important swords, suits of armor, and other items dedicated to the deities since the 8th century.
