The temple is most famed for the “Kiyomizu Stage” and the National Treasure, the Hondo (Main Hall). On one side, you will find the main hall built in an aristocratic Shinden-zukuri architecture style; on the other side, there is the magnificent butai-zukuri architectural style platform built right on the edge of a cliff supported by 139 pillars. The name “Hiyomizu-dera” is originated from the Otowa Waterfall, whose water is said to have the power to heal illnesses.
Take a panoramic view of the streets of Kyoto from Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Cherry blossoms in Spring and foliage in autumn are also some of the must-sees.
