Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine is the head shrine of the 3800 Sannou-san Shrines – Hiyoshi, Hie, and Sannou Shrines around the country. There are almost 40 shrine buildings within the prescint. In which, many inlcuding the east and west halls, are designated as national treasures.
Apart from its historical buildings, the shrine is also one of the best foliage viewing locations in Shiga Prefecture, as well as the venue for Sanno Festival, one of the Three Festivals around Lake Biwa.
