Formerly an apartment building for foreigners, the French House is a quaint Ijinkan (former foreigner’s residence)consisting of two Western-style buildings arranged symmetrically. The museum is decorated with Art Nouveau furniture, furnishings, and other French-related exhibits. The glassworks of Emile Gallé and the Dohm brothers, two of the most famous artists of Art Nouveau, are some of the must-sees. The old trunks from the early days of the popular brand Louis Vuitton are reminiscent of a boat journey in the olden days.
