As part of the 1200th-anniversary commemorative event, it is opened in 1997 as the 4th generation of the Kyoto Station building. It is one of the largest scale station buildings in Japan―the station, a hotel, a department store, a theater, an art museum, and more―all of these can be found in the Kyoto Station Building.
