The Osaka-jo GOZABUNE（Osaka Castle Pleasure Boat）was first sailed in the spring of 2015. It is a handmade reproduction the ship illustrated in “Toyotomi-ki Osaka Zubyobu”, “Hououmaru”, the boat made for Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Japan’s second greatest unifier. In order to represent the gorgeous Azuchimomoyama period, approximately 3000 sheets of gold were used per boat.
