A neon-glittering food heaven

A street where you will find some of Osaka’s finest restaurants. Dotonbori Street was built in the early Edo period (1603-1868)by a merchant called Donton Yasui, who encouraged shops to open along the riverside to transformed a natural river into a canal. During the Edo period, the Dotonbori area was the home of Japanese theater, because of this, the street became a popular location for restaurants.
