This traditional Japanese style cafe takes its name from the tea vendors who used to ply their trade around here in the Edo period, carrying their tea sets and snacks on bamboo poles. The cafe is just near the entrance to the Man’yo Botanical Garden and is managed by Kasuga Taisha. Apart from the usual tea, coffee and sweets, they serve local specialties like Kakinoha Sushi and a rice porridge with seasonal greens known as Manyo-gayu.
