A Beautiful Sunset Viewing Spot Representing the Shirahama Area

The symbol of the Shirahama area. Officially known as “Takashima”, Engetsu Island is a small island located on the southern sea of Rinkaiura Bay.

It is named “Engetsu” (round moon) because of the moon-shaped sea cave in the middle of the island.
The sunset at Engetsuto Island has been selected as one of the best 100 sunsets in Wakayama Prefecture. The view is said to be most beautiful at around 6:30 in summer and 4:30 in winter.
