Shinsekai is a downtown district in the Ebisuhigashi area of Osaka City existed for decades since World War II. It is a retro shopping arcade in which, Jan Jan Yokocho is the most popular. Lined with various restaurants serving Osaka’s local cuisine such as deep-friend skewered pork, these streets are often crowded with tourists as well as locals.

Right in the middle of Shinsekai is the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower. Climb up the tower to its Observation deck at the height of 100m, and marvel at the superb panoramic view of the city. Before you head back down, be sure to touch the bottom of the foot of the Billiken Statue which is said to bring good fortune. Every year, this area is visited by over 7 million peopleーit is undoubtedly one of Osaka’s most famous sightseeing destinations.
