Experience the elegant world of Ogura Hyakunin Isshu in Arashiyama

Also known as Shigureden, the Saga Arashiyama Museum of Arts and Culture is a museum at Arashiyama, the foot of Mt. Ogura, where Teika Fujiwara edited the Hyakunin Isshu poems. Experience the diverse world of Hyakunin Isshu at the historical Shigureden. On the first floor is the permanent exhibition space, where you will find precious documents about Hyakunin Isshu with the theme of “seeing”, “feeling” and “learning”, 100 dolls of the master poets, and dioramas which remind you of the sceneries of the poems. On the second floor, you can also experience the costumes of the Heian Period.
