Ichizawa’s canvas products have been designed and created in Kyoto since 1905. Their products are made from the most superior quality canvas and each is carefully made by hand by their experienced craftspeople. Their canvas bags are sturdy and perfect for daily use and their Kyoto shop is the only one in the world.
The history of their products goes back to about a hundred years when sturdy canvas bags were made for use by workmen and craftspeople to carry milk and sake bottles as well as carpenter’s tools. Later, their line of products was expanded to include school satchels and mountaineering rucksacks. Today, their products have further expanded to include not only the simple, easy-to-use standard types but also those that have been created with imaginative flair.
They have three lines of products which each have a different brand name label. “Shinzaburo Hanpu” is for plain, unprinted cotton bags with make up the majority of our sales. “Shinzaburo Kaban” is used for linen products as well as some cotton canvas products with have been printed with their original patterns. “”Ichizawa Hanpu”” is the original dating back to a hundred years ago and is used for the products designed then for craftspeople.
Although canvas is durable, wear and tear cannot be avoided as it is made from natural fiber. At Ichizawa Shinzaburo Hanpu, they make a real effort to repair as many bags as they can to bring them back to life. Each product has simplicity of form, flexibility, user-friendliness and sturdiness and is sure to live up to your expectations. Please drop by the shop for the item that is just right for you.
