Known as the Island of the Gods since ancient times, Chikubushima is not only deeply worwhipped by the public but also attracts pilgrims and tourists alike. Many worshippers visit the island to pay at the Chikubushima Shrine and Chikubushima Hogonji Temple – the 30th temple of the three great Benzaiten in west Japan.
