Saikyoji Temple was founded by Prince Shotoku and was revived by Shinsei. It is also the head temple of Tentaishinseizo sect. As a place of Buddhist practice and precepts, not a single day passes where Buddhist prayers are not performed. From the remnants of the Akechi family tomb, we can tell that Akechi Mitsuhide had revived the temple after the siege of Mount Hiei. In temple area, you can visit the main hall which is constructed with Zelkova wood (an important cultural property), and also the reception hall which was reconstructed from Fishimimomoyama castle.
