The Daimonzaka, which passes through the Kumano Kodo, one of Japan's Three Oldest Roads (Okuno Otori, Nakasendo), still represents the beauty of the prosperous times of the Kumano Worship. It is a 600-meter long stone road with height differences of 100 meters that lead to the sacred place of ""Nachiyama"".
Pilgrims will be welcomed by the ""Furigasebashi"", an entrance way said to be leading to the ancient sekiguchi and temple, and the ""Meotosugi"", an 800 year old tree. It is called ""Daimonzaka"" because there was once a large gate at the arrival point of the slope.
