Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN
One of the world's largest aquariums that reproduces the sea of the Pacific Rim.
A fascinating and educational way to spend an afternoon.

An underwater wonderland!

This is a spectacular aquarium, definitely worth a visit. I think it will appeal to all ages and tastes, as it really is a stunning view into the marine life of the Pacific Rim. I went with my mother and husband, and we all enjoyed viewing the various creatures, especially the huge, spindly crabs and the whale shark, which is the star attraction. The route through the aquarium starts on the 8th floor and spirals down, so you can see marine life at various depths and habitats. At the end, there is an interactive area where you can actually touch marine life, should you be so brave! Happily, they provide sinks nearby to wash your hands after. Also, across the square in front of the aquariu, you can find a food court for a refreshing snack after the long aquatic journey.

Equipped with an enormous water tank of 9-meter deep, the eight-story building displays life and diversity of habitat through 620 species and 30,000 unique marine creatures including whale sharks, penguins, seals and many others. The special jellyfish exhibit and the interactive exhibit where you can actually touch sharks are the most popular. KAIYUKAN has been chosen as #1 in Asia by the travel review site, TripAdvisor.
