A basic, slightly old but friendly minshuku in the middle of town, with rooms overlooking the mountain. What I found pretty cool is that they make their own chopsticks here out of local Yoshino cedar. Rooms are in the Japanese-style with futons and tatami mats, and they provide toothbrushes, towels and a yukata for their communal bath. No toiletries needed at this place! Don’t expect luxury, but it’s a great place if you’re just looking for a warm and reasonably comfortable place to stay. There’s even wifi available around the lobby and dining area, though it doesn’t extend all the way to your room.
It is a very cozy hostel and all the staff are like your family. You can enjoy the unique kaiseki-ryori (banquet dishes) that use the local food, such as edible wild plants of Yoshino and fish caught in Yoshino river. With their kind hospitality, not only the take-out lunch but also the pick up service is available if you are joining the morning religious service held at Zao-do hall of Kinpusen-ji Temple.
