Away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, you can appreciate the flowers of four seasons while Nara's six Kannon Bosatsu will calm your spirit in your pilgrimage to the ancient temples. Enjoy ""Seishun, Shuka, Hakushu, Gento*1"" in the hidden yet historically valuable old temples of Asuka, Yoshino, and Tounomine, the area in southern Nara which is said to be where Japan was first created. Moreover, Asuka and Yoshino, where more than one fourth of the 900 area names of Nara that appear in Manyoshu (the oldest anthology of Japanese poetry) is concentrated, are the very place where one can feel ancient Japan with five senses.
Why don't you relish the tranquility, and enjoy the food unique to Asuka and Yoshino, such as the ancient rice, hotpot, and kudzu (Japanese arrowroot), while having the blessing of Kannon?
The pilgrimage includes six temples and shrines, including Tanzan Shrine and Shorin-ji in Sakurai-shi, Oka-dera and Tachibana-dera in Asuka-mura, and Nyoirin-ji and Sakuramotobo in Yoshino-cho.
Kannon, the hidden Buddha, is partly shown to the public. Please inquire each shrine and temple for the showing schedule.
Since April 2017, the original post cards are given out as presents at six shrines and temples, including Tanzan Shrine and Shorin-ji in Sakurai-shi, Oka-dera and Tachibana-dera in Asuka-mura, and Nyoirin-ji and Sakuramotobo in Yoshino-cho. The card has the limited number of 1000, given out on a first-come-first-served basis. The distribution will stop as soon as the cards are out.
